Green Margin by Stabiliti
Green Margin is a B2B SaaS nature finance platform. It enables UK retailers and brands to automatically fund verified UK nature restoration projects from every product sale, with no changes to checkout and no developer required. Impact data is reported back in CSRD- and TNFD-ready format.
The problem it solves
UK retailers face growing pressure from customers, investors, and regulators to demonstrate meaningful environmental action. Existing solutions fall into two inadequate categories: carbon offsets (increasingly seen as greenwashing), or large voluntary commitments that require budget, procurement, and PR cycles most brands cannot sustain.
Green Margin addresses this by embedding nature contributions directly into the transaction layer — so every unit sold automatically generates a small, real, and independently verified contribution to UK nature restoration. No offsetting. No claims that outrun reality. Verifiable ecological impact, reported automatically.
How it works
- Integration. The retailer installs the Green Margin Shopify app, or connects via REST API for custom commerce stacks. No checkout changes are required for end customers.
- Configuration. A contribution amount is set per product, category, or sales channel (e.g. £1 per unit, 0.5% of basket value). This can be fixed or tiered.
- Capture. Every qualifying transaction triggers an automatic contribution. These accumulate in the retailer's Green Margin account in real time.
- Routing. Aggregated contributions are routed to one or more CreditNature-verified UK nature restoration projects chosen by the retailer or allocated by Green Margin.
- Reporting. The retailer receives automated impact reports covering hectares funded, CO₂ captured, biodiversity score, species returning, and CSRD/TNFD-ready data exports.
The verification layer: CreditNature EMR
All nature projects on Green Margin are independently verified by CreditNature, using their Ecosystem Management Rating (EMR) system.
The EMR is an A–G rating scale (analogous to energy efficiency ratings) that assesses the ecological management quality of a nature project. Ratings are independently assessed and cover land management practices, ecological outcomes, and ongoing monitoring. An A-rated site indicates best-practice nature management; lower ratings identify sites with improvement potential.
This means retailers and brands using Green Margin are not buying opaque offsets — they are directing real money to real UK land that has been independently assessed for ecological quality.
Who it's for
- UK retailers and ecommerce brands of any size seeking verified nature impact linked to sales volume
- Corporate sustainability and ESG teams needing verified, reportable nature contributions for annual reporting and stakeholder disclosure
- Finance and compliance teams needing CSRD scope 3 or TNFD-aligned nature reporting data
- Brands with eco-conscious customers wanting a credible, anti-greenwashing sustainability claim at the point of sale
